Networking explained

Taking the mystery (and fear) out of business networking.

My name is Edward, and I am a small business owner. In 2025, one of my new years resolutions was to go to a business networking event every month. In January I went along one Thursday evening, and that was the last one I went to.

In short, I hated it. I didn’t have any business cards, I didn’t have a plan and I didn’t know how to introduce myself to people and make conversation.

I’d psyched myself up that I was going to meet new customers and people who could help grow my business, but what actually happened was that I felt out of place, underprepared and that this was something I needed to get better at. I spent most of the event chatting to one person and as great as they were, they wernt a potential customer and our businesses were so different that it didn’t feel useful and relevant. I knew that we’d both used each other’s company so we didnt have to interact with other people.

So this is why I created ‘Networking explained’ a business networking event that aims to take the mystery and some of the fear out of business networking using the speed networking format.
